It’s almost Christmas! That means that at almost every store there will be a Santa Claus outside, ringing their bells asking for donations. I think that’s great, but I also wish they would make a bigger deal about donations all year round.  I completely understand that people make a bigger deal about people in need around the holidays because it’s the time of the year of giving. Also, I know there’s plenty of events and fundraisers that happen during other times of the year but you don’t really see many people standing outside places trying to get people to donate like they do around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I think that every month or everyday is a good time to donate to a charity or a family in need. It’s been proven that most people donate the most during the holiday seasons. Nobody knows why; but they just do. I guess it’s just something about the holidays that gets people in a very giving mood. If you think about it, there’s plenty of people in the world who need food or water during other times of the year, like during June or July…You don’t see anyone outside of stores trying to get you to give some money to charity or anything during those times of the year. Little do people know there’s a ton of people in the world who need help during summer or spring too. Not just during the fall or winter seasons. Just because there’s no holiday coming up doesn’t mean there’s no one in need of some help.

Everyone should find a charity to donate to even after this upcoming holiday season is over with. People should just give away their clothes they don’t need anymore or cans of food they’re not planning on eating to people who truly need it. They’re probably in need of some food or clothes during the summer time. If you become a person who chooses to help people out all year long, I can promise you, you’ll feel like a better person. You’ll know you helped someone out just by caring all the time, not just during the holiday season.
